During
the Middle Ages relationships were complicated.
Europeans lived with parents and kids. People died due to disease and many
lived with other family members. No one went to school; kids worked in fields
or took care of younger kids. Richer kids went to convents and monasteries.
They learned how to read and write there. When they turned age 12 or13 went to
work for someone else. Lived with the people
they worked for. Most Peasants rented or leased land and were tradespeople.
There was always someone more powerful; Nobles, Knights, Lords, Ladies, serfs, tradespeople, clergy and peasants. William the Conqueror is perhaps the most important figure of the Middle Ages. His rule marked the massive construction of castles in medieval Europe. Joan of Arc is another example, she was a French Heroine who rescued France during its darkest moments of the Hundreds Years War. She was burned at the stake.
